Which Fin Fits My Bluefin SUP?

Bluefin is one of the UK's most popular SUP brands, but it runs two different fin systems depending on the model — so it's worth checking before you order. The standard Cruise range (10'2, 10'8 and 12'0) and the Aura Fit use Bluefin's own Smart Lock, a tool-free flip-latch fin. The Cruise Carbon, Sprint 14'0, Nitro 14'0 and Cruise Tandem 15'0, on the other hand, use a standard US Box fin. We carry replacement fins for the Quick-Lock/Smart-Lock-style system as well as US Box, so either way there's a good chance we can match your board. Which Fin System Does Your Board Use?

Not Sure Which Model You Have?

  • The model name is usually printed on the rail or near the tail.
  • Board length in feet is usually printed on the nose or deck.
  • Production year is sometimes printed near the fin box on newer boards.
  • The fin-box shape tells you the system: a raised box with a screw is US Box, a soft molded fin is Fixed/iFin, and side-by-side clip slots are Quick-Lock.

Cruise is Bluefin's best-selling, entry-level range and uses Bluefin's own Smart Lock — a tool-free, flip-latch fin box. It's the same family as the Quick-Lock system we stock replacement fins for, so our Classic Fin 9″ (Quick-Lock) is the fin to order — just don't confuse it with a US Box fin, which won't lock in.

Cruise Carbon is Bluefin's premium line, and unlike the standard Cruise it switches to a standard US Box fin instead of Smart Lock. It's an easy mix-up given the near-identical name, so double-check which Cruise you actually have before ordering. Our Classic Fin 9″ fits the Carbon's US Box.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Bluefin Cruise use the same fin as the Cruise Carbon?
No. The standard Cruise (10'2, 10'8, 12'0) uses Bluefin's own Smart Lock flip-latch system, while the Cruise Carbon uses a standard US Box fin. They're not interchangeable.
What is Bluefin's Smart Lock fin system?
It's Bluefin's own tool-free, flip-latch fin box used on the standard Cruise range and the Aura Fit. It's a proprietary quick-lock design, not a US Box, so it needs a matching replacement fin.
My Bluefin Smart Lock lever is loose — is that normal?
The Smart Lock lever is a known wear point on the standard Cruise range over time. If it won't close securely, it's worth checking whether a lever replacement is available before assuming the fin itself is the problem.
