You've found the location, the boards are on order, and you're standing in front of a spreadsheet trying to figure out what else you actually need before opening day. Boards get all the attention when people plan a SUP rental business — fins, storage, and repair basics are the things that quietly determine whether your first season runs smoothly or turns into a string of "sorry, that board's out of service" conversations.
The equipment checklist

Fins: the detail most new operators underbudget for
New operators tend to order whatever fin ships stock with the board and move on. That's a mistake if your launch point is shallow or rocky — a rigid touring fin will ground out and snap within weeks, and you'll be reordering fins before you've even settled into a routine. Match the fin to your actual water conditions from day one instead of discovering the mismatch the hard way in week three.
Storage that doubles as inventory management
Boards stacked on the ground get scratched, block each other, and make it hard to do a quick visual inventory count before opening. A wall-mounted rack system solves both problems at once — boards are visible, protected, and easy to count at a glance during a busy morning handoff.
The repair kit you'll wish you'd bought on day one
A stripped fin screw or a lost fin key takes a board out of service just as effectively as a cracked hull — and it's the kind of small failure that always seems to happen on your busiest Saturday. Stock spare screws and a couple of fin keys before opening day, not after the first board goes down.
